I have had this video kicking around the Inbox for a while – I guess better late than never. Maps & Atlases released a video for “Living Decorations” off of Perch Patchwork. The video’s fun concept revolves around the character Rick Reebok (hottest last name ever) and follows him as he sets up and performs. Maps and Atlases will be at Lincoln Hall on March 11.

Consequence of Sound will be hosting a listening party for the new Interpol release Tuesday, September 7, 2010 at Black Rock Pub & Kitchen kicking off at 8p.m.  The festivities will include giveaways like autographed posters by the band and the LP on CD and vinyl. Black Rock will be offering food and drink specials as well. Look out for the Bee and the Naughty Librarian!

Ok look, I was super excited that Interpol decided to tour the US.  I wanted to see them live but didn’t want to pay over $100 to see them open for U2, thankfully (or not, however you want to look at it) St. Bono’s need of back surgery resulted in the tour being scrapped.  I was thrilled to hear they were still going to tour the US and that meant I just might get a chance to see them live.  I was excited when I heard they sold out two nights in Chicago. I was not however, impressed with their show Sunday night. The show was underwhelming.  Lead singer Paul Banks seemed detached, there was no real interaction with the crowd, we weren’t engaged in any way, they just…played. Except for guitarist Daniel Kessler, whose dancing throughout their set was the only real sign of life up on that stage.  It wasn’t awful, their set was tight and they were drenched in changing colored lights that perfectly matched their moody music.  They sounded exactly as you hear them on record but unfortunately didn’t add anything new in the way of arrangements or instrumentation.  I’m attaching a few photos, the rest of the album can be found on the ol’ Facebook page and check back later when I’ll have video of NYC (which was played as an encore)  up and running.
