Ear worm: the one song that gets stuck in my head and refuses to escape. Today’s worm is another clip from the PBS special honoring Paul McCartney which we’ve discussed before.  Today’s worm is the always awesome Dave Grohl covering McCartney’s Band On The Run. This is all sorts of yes despite the fact that Grohl looks odd without the rest of the Foos. Also, thanks to everyone who has been visiting our brand-spanking new Facebook page. You guys rock. Thanks for all your support!

Swedish pop Fembot badass Robyn promised to deliver 3 albums in 2010 and so far its looking like she just might deliver on that promise. After releasing “Body Talk Pt. 1″ last month Pitchfork is reporting that she’ll be releasing “Body Talk Pt. 2″ (natch) on September 6 in the UK and if that’s not enough, on September 5 we can expect to hear a dance version of her ballad “Hang with Me” though no word yet on when album #3 will be out. There’s also a great bit about a duet with Snoop (squeee!) but no further word on when that track will be released.

In the meantime, head on over to Arjan Writes for a free download of Outputmessage’s Remix of “None of Dem” and let the bumpin’ begin!

Sad news to report today, legendary Cuban bolero singer Olga Guillot passed away yesterday after suffering a heart attack at the age of 87 at Miami Beach’s Mount Sinai Medical Center.  Guillot began her career as a teenager singing in the “Duo Hermanitas Guillot” with her sister Ana Luisa. She was discovered by influential Cuban music exec Facundo Rivera in 1945 at the age of 23.  Soonafter she met Miguelito Valdes who took her to NYC to record her first album for Decca.  In 1948 she moved to Mexico where she established what would be a long and successful career as an actress and singer.  In 1954 she recorded the song that made her an icon “Mienteme” (Lie to Me), winning several international awards and toured the world.  Another career highlight was singing with Edith Piaf in Cannes in 1958.  She was vocal in her opposition to Fidel Castro and left Cuba for good in 1961 living in Venezuela for a short time before permanently settling in Mexico. She also owned property in South Beach.  Of note, she was the first Latin artist to sing at Carnegie Hall (yeah, that one). Below is the song that brought her international fame. Her elegant voice will be missed.

Ear worm: The one song that gets stuck in my head and refuse to escape.  Today Pitchfork had a piece about Stars new tour which begins tonight in Los Angeles and ends in Vancouver in November with the band making a stop at this year’s Lollapalooza in Chicago. They reminded me of one of my favorite Stars songs: Your Ex Love Is Dead. Enjoy!!

Ear worms: the one song that gets stuck in my head and refuses to escape. Today’s worm is just a damn catchy and danceable song. That’s pretty much it.

Earworm: that song that gets stuck in my head and refuses to escape.  Today’s earworm has been knocking around in the ol’ brain for a couple days now. Titus Andronicus (who will be at the Empty Bottle this Wednesday April 7) with A More Perfect Union.  Loving the new album, Monitor, it gets better with each listen. So get it now!!

I’ve been in an 8bitpeoples kinda mood lately (thanks Minusbaby!).  I had forgotten about this particular track until searching through iTunes I stumbled upon it and kicked myself for neglecting it like a step child.  The Depreciation Guild‘s ‘Dream About Me’ has been in heavy rotation at Chez Bumble Bee’s the last couple days.  This is dreamy chip tune pop with reverb heavy guitars and something you don’t hear often on a TDG song: heavy drums.  Oh yeah and their frontman is Kurt Feldman, who is a drummer in a band you may have heard of called the Pains of Being Pure at Heart.   They’ll be at Bottom Lounge on March 31 (with my loves: Canyon) and their stop in Chicago will include an in-store at Reckless Records. So go! Get your tickets! Do it! NOW!!

On the player below you’ll find Sade’s new single, Soldier of Love, from her forthcoming 6th studio release of the same name. My knowledge of Sade’s music is limited to a worn loaned copy of 1994′s Best of Sade. I’m not a big fan of R&B, in particular this baby-making sensual brand but I’ve always been drawn to her voice and its smooth, rich timbre.  The song is long (5:57) but listening to it you get lost in the too-simple-to-be-this-good groove and her hypnotic voice.  I think I’ll go back and revisit Sade’s catalog and perhaps find that I am in fact a fan of her brand of sensual R&B afterall.

Happy New Year!! Today’s ear worm was recorded this past summer during LAMC in New York. Makes me wish summer would hurry its ass up and get here because I’ve had enough of this stupid cold weather.

One of my all time favorite music people, Brendan Benson, posted this charming little video. Enjoy.
