So I broke down and joined blip.fm. Its been around for about a year and I put off on joining because I wanted to see if it was going to stick around or go the way of Fuzz or end up in bankruptcy like SeeqPod. Described as a music recommendation and streaming service its like Twitter for music. For a bossa/Jobim junkie like yours truly this is the perfect way to find new artists and goodies that I might not easily be able to get my hands on in this country. Clicking around the site I came on a very honest blog post by the developers of Blip.FM. They’re going through a rough patch but hope to weather the storm. Unfortunately, the coming changes and revamps to the site will affect users outside of the US which makes me nervous as I like my Brazilian music and love the stuff I hear on the site. Hopefully the changes won’t be as drastic or severe as anticipated but in the meantime, get on board with blip.fm. I’ve already logged in a good chunk of time just listening and searching.
