Ooh boy…Sunday’s taping was a real doozy.

First up was On The Run.  I am crushing so hard on these boys right now. Tim (drums), Luke (vocals, guitar), Tyler (vocals, guitar), Mike (bass) and Brian (sax) might take the #1 spot in my heart this week from [.DESCARGA.], that’s how serious this is.  Their first song, Stage Lights, was a pounding rocker that featured a fired up guitar solo and a snake charming sax solo.  Loaded Gun started with tribal drums and morphed into a funky rocker that had the intimate feel of a jam session.  The spirit so moved Tyler that he jumped up on the drum stage during his solo.  Lastly we heard the reggae flavored California.  Together for about a year they’ll be releasing an the EP California and will be available for sale on their site soon.  They’ll be blowing the roof off of Reggie’s on June 4 and at Metro on June 21.

Next was Central Disorder. These boys (Rob – drums; Alex – vocals; Dereck – bass; Jim – guitar; and Rob – guitar) are all sorts of fucked up and that’s high praise.  Describing their sound as “thrash fused with death and new wave of American metal…in one word: HEAVY” they sure as hell are dead right.  They played a too-short 2 song set; the moody marching into of Metaloxide and the shredding guitars and vocals made this sound like a march straight from hell (again, high praise) was followed by The Awakening a fast static thrasher.  A few more of these sets and I’m going to become a metal head.  CD will next be at Doug’s Rock House in Aurora on July 4 and their album, The Awakening, is due in late June.

And closing out the show were Spitt’n Llamas, a band that I was very much looking forward to seeing that night.  Jando, Richi D, Uli, Luis brought down the house.  Dime Si Hay Esperanza  was a country rocker and La Culebra de ChacMol started out like a mid-tempo ballad and switched up to a hard pulser ending with the refrain “Yo No Soy Politico.”  This band has clearly been influenced by classic American rock bands like The Doors but give it a Latin twist  with lyrics in Spanish.  They were awesome. What else can I say?

Next week we’ll be taping at Tiger’s in Berwyn featuring Luna Blues Machine, Lily Schaffer and Capitulo 2.
